Protect your investment with comprehensive coverage from America's most trusted car warranty providers. Our detailed analysis covers pricing, coverage options, customer reviews, and expert ratings to help you make an informed decision.
The cards above are a ratings directory of extended car warranty and auto service-contract providers β factory-backed programs and independent companies. Use this guide to understand what the ratings actually measure, then scan the full company index below.
Car Warranty Genius does not sell policies from this page. We publish coverage notes, typical pricing ranges, and the trade-offs that decide whether a claim gets paid: exclusions, deductibles, waiting periods, and shop networks.
Every listing here falls into one of two topical clusters. Confusing them is how drivers buy the wrong contract.
Sold by or through the automaker (Honda Care, Ford Protect ESP, Subaru Added Security, Kia Care, BMW Extended Vehicle Protection, and others). Claims typically run through brand dealers. Parts are more often genuine OEM. Mileage and age rules still apply β βfactory-backedβ is not a blank check.
Companies such as Endurance, CARCHEX, CarShield, Toco Warranty, and Omega Auto Care. They can cover mixed-brand households and older, higher-mileage cars the dealer will not touch. Quality varies by administrator, not by the TV commercial. Read waiting periods and state availability (some plans skip California entirely).
Star ratings on the cards are a snapshot, not a recommendation to buy. Two 4.6-star companies can fail totally different claims. Always match the contract to the vehicle: a 2019 Honda Civic and a 2015 German luxury SUV are not the same risk.
49 providers are reviewed on this page: 21 manufacturer-backed programs and 28 independent administrators and marketers. Names, typical monthly ranges, and one-line summaries sit in this index so every company is readable even when the cards above are filtered.
Pricing figures are approximate consumer-reported or marketed ranges. They are not offers. Availability varies by state, vehicle age, and mileage.

Ratings tell you who. Coverage notes tell you what. Repair-cost literacy tells you whether the contract is even worth the premium.
A factory (manufacturer) warranty comes with a new vehicle and covers defects in materials and workmanship for a set term, often around 3 years / 36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper plus a longer powertrain term. An extended car warranty β legally an auto service contract in most states β is purchased separately to cover mechanical breakdown after that factory coverage ends, or on a used car that has none left.
Manufacturer plans (Honda Care, Ford Protect, Mopar Maximum Care, and similar) are usually honored at that brandβs dealerships and often use OEM parts. Independent providers can cost less and cover more makes, but you should check administrator ratings, waiting periods, and which shops they approve. The better plan is the one that will actually pay the claim on your car, not the one with the loudest ad.
Read the exclusion list, deductible (per visit vs per repair), waiting period, mileage cap, and whether the contract is exclusionary (covers most named components unless excluded) or stated-component (only listed parts). Also check whether claims need pre-authorization and if you can use any ASE shop or only a network.
Usually not. Brake pads, tires, wiper blades, and similar consumables fail from use, not defect. Some premium exclusionary contracts cover more electronics and seals; almost none treat routine maintenance as a claim. That is why matching coverage to how you actually drive matters more than a monthly price screenshot.
